Yoga + Block Therapy™

I offer Yoga + Block Therapy™ for:

  • Beginners

I support beginners in yoga by fostering a compassionate and non-competitive environment focused on loving kindness. My gentle yoga approach ensures a slow-paced, nurturing experience, emphasizing proper alignment and gradual posture progression. Through ample time for breath work, repetition, and individualized adjustments, students feel supported and encouraged to make moment-to-moment modifications. This approach enables beginners to confidently and comfortably engage in their yoga practice while experiencing the benefits of self-care and relaxation.

  • increased flexibility

Block Therapy™, in contrast to traditional stretching, supports increased flexibility by targeting the fascia, the interconnected network integral to cellular communication. Pain, rather than an adversary, serves as a signal for attention; it reflects cells' needs for oxygen and nutrients. When compression in the fascia occurs due to various factors like gravity or poor posture, it obstructs this vital communication. Through Block Therapy's focus on decompressing the fascia, it offers a solution: realignment of cells, allowing unimpeded flow of nutrients and oxygen. By breaking the cycle of compression, Block Therapy promotes balance, addressing a wide spectrum of issues from pain, aging, and disease to mental health concerns, enabling cells to thrive by restoring the body's natural harmony and well-being.

  • alignment

Incorporating the teachings of BKS Iyengar into both Block Therapy™ and beginning yoga support, I emphasize the crucial aspect of proper alignment as foundational for overall well-being. Drawing from Iyengar's principles, the use of props like blocks becomes instrumental in assisting individuals in achieving precise alignment in yoga poses. By integrating Block Therapy™ with these principles, I focus on decompressing the fascia, allowing for optimal alignment of cells and unblocking the flow of nutrients. This combination not only aids in physical alignment but also extends to mental and emotional balance. Through a careful fusion of Iyengar's approach, block therapy, and beginner yoga support, I aim to provide a safe, accessible, and effective practice that fosters alignment, strength, and harmony within the body and mind

what to bring

When attending a class, it's helpful to bring a few essentials for a comfortable and fulfilling practice. Firstly, a yoga mat is crucial for stability and cushioning during poses. Comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement, such as leggings or athletic wear and a breathable top, is ideal. Bringing a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the session is important. Depending on personal preference, some practitioners may opt to bring a towel for sweat or to use as additional padding during certain poses. Additionally, if you have your own yoga props such as blocks, straps, or a bolster, bringing them can enhance your practice. For practitioners of Block Therapy, bringing a Block Buddy and Baby, as well as a yoga blanket, can offer added support and comfort during the session. Lastly, an open mind and willingness to engage in the practice with focus and mindfulness are invaluable contributions to your yoga class experience.

optimizing classes

Commitment to daily practice and being present is how one creates and maintains balance.  To meet this challenge, I created this community and offer practices to hold us accountable as a network of like-minded people.

Each practice offers asana, mantra, pranayama, sangha connection and a space to cultivate our inner refuge.

It’s a space to be seen, to be held exactly where you are, to share challenges or successes. We utilize the community forums to ask questions and commune with a global network.

In the membership portal, my virtual practices and seasonal guide offer continuous support for your yoga journey throughout the week, bridging the gap between classes. These resources are designed to complement and enhance your regular sessions by providing structured practices tailored to each season's unique energy and needs. With a variety of virtual practices, including guided videos, tutorials, and a comprehensive seasonal guide, you can maintain a consistent practice, nurturing your body and mind on a daily basis. My classes are strategically structured to progressively build upon one another, forming a foundation for your growth in flexibility and strength while ensuring safety and injury prevention. By gradually introducing and refining foundational poses and techniques each week, the classes aim to lead practitioners toward mastering more advanced yoga postures by month's end, fostering a steady and sustainable progression towards peak poses while prioritizing alignment, mindfulness, and gradual advancement.

virtual vs. in-person

Virtual yoga classes offer unique benefits compared to in-person sessions. While both provide guidance and instruction, virtual classes offer the convenience of practicing from any location with an internet connection, allowing flexibility in scheduling. Participants can choose from a wider range of instructors and styles worldwide, providing access to diverse teachings that may not be geographically available. Virtual classes also cater to various comfort levels, allowing individuals to practice in their own space, which can enhance relaxation and focus.

In-person classes offer immediate, hands-on adjustments from instructors, facilitating better alignment and understanding of poses. The social aspect and community connection in physical classes can be more pronounced, fostering a sense of belonging and shared energy. Additionally, the in-person environment may limit distractions and promote a deeper immersive experience in the practice. Both virtual and in-person classes offer unique advantages, catering to different preferences and lifestyles, ultimately contributing to a well-rounded yoga practice.
